Saltwater Boulder Challenge
Long, long ago ancient Scots discovered a new way to use large, natural stones. Roads were built, cairns to remember the great battles, castles were erected and many other things. In creating these works of art, the Scottish started to challenge each other in who could carry the heaviest stone the longest distance.
The Saltwater Highland Games has created a new version of this competition called the Boulder Challenge. Basically, you pick up a large stone and walk as far as you can...until you drop it!
This feat of strength, endurance and possible public humiliation is open to all lads and lasses 18 and up with each having three different sizes of stones to challenge. At the end of the day the longest carry in each category wins the honorable title Boulder King or Queen.
This event is continuous throughout the weekend of the Saltwater Highland Games and is held on the demonstration field. The contest is free to join but a Release of Liability will be required when you sign up. We will not be responsible if you get bested by a boulder.
